When unforeseen circumstances force natural enemies to become allies, something far more enduring than animosity is born—friendship.
Beatrice, a young healer living on the outskirts of the human port settlement of River’s Divide, simply wishes to hide herself from the searching eyes of the Priesthood of the Revealing Light. The last thing she wants ‘revealed’ is that she is host to a Larnkin—a spirit creature of vast and forbidden magic.
Her already complicated life grows more perilous when a lupwyn scout stumbles into a trap set by the priesthood. If she sits back and does nothing, the wolf-like shapeshifter will be drained dry by the priests until he is an empty, soulless slave. As a healer, that isn’t something she will allow. But lupwyns have no love for the newly arrived humans.
For the sake of mutual survival, Beatrice hopes this lupwyn can see beyond the hatred caused by two warring peoples. If not, she might die at the hands of the male she is trying to save.
Author’s Note
Maiden’s Wolf is a complete standalone story and can be read on its own. However, I would suggest reading the series in order for maximum enjoyment.

Maiden Wolf In Deception Shadow Book 3 eBook Lisa Blackwood
Maiden's Wolf is book 3 in Lisa Blackwood's series In Betrayal's Shadow. It is the story of Beatrice, a human healer who is host to a Larnkin, and Silverblade, a lupwyn scouting the edges of lupwyn territory where it meets human lands near River's Divide, the family home of the Stonemantle sisters. With the increase in the number of acolytes entering through the port of River's Divide, Beatrice and her family are fleeing from their home to promised safety in the santhyrian nation. When a delegation of elementals are killed in a battle with acolytes, Silverblade is the only survivor. Without healing from Beatrice, however, he would have dies. Together they must make their way through traps and dangers from the acolytes to give reports to the ruling council and to the few of The Twelve who have already been revealed.I really enjoyed this book. It was filled with action but also had its tender moments as Beatrice and Silverblade get to know each other and begin to care for each other. These two characters are quite well developed and the storyline is well thought out and likewise developed well. The glimpses of the characters from other books in the series are nice, even though very little time has passed in the timeframe for the book.
I think it would have been nice to look in on Beatrice's grandmother and brother on their trip to see what, if any, dangers they faced and how they got out of the situations. However, I am thinking that there may be a book about Roane (Beatrice's younger brother, since he does contain magic. I am on pins and needles waiting for the next book in this series, The Dead Queen, to come out.
I would recommend this book for mid teens and older. If I were to use the scale of movies ratings, I would give it a PG-13 rating due to the amount of violence in it, and also because it alludes to sex, but doesn't go into explicit descriptions.

Maiden Wolf In Deception Shadow Book 3 eBook Lisa Blackwood Reviews
Buy this book you will love it the story runs just right from beginning to end. This aeuther knows how to write .
This is an excellent series of fantasy titles. So well-written and original that one waits impatiently for the next book in the series! Shapeshifters and humans unite in uneasy alliance to challenge the power of Evil. Epic stuff!
This took a turn that while expected... I mean it's a romance novel so you know that Beatrice is gonna end up with Silverblade but it's just how it unfolds, beautiful I love how the characters develop as the story progresses giving you a more believable scenario.
Didn't care for the characters or the story. I love shifter stories, but this one just wasn't for me, I guess.
I have enjoyed all 3 books of the series.I understand that these are basically the origin stories of the new Twelve so I am looking forward to more. By far I enjoyed this out of the 3. I really liked how the relationship between Beatrice and Silverblade developed. The introduction of the "Pack" to their relationship was great.
Nothing really more to say than the series have been great so far!
I was impressed with the first two books, and I'm also impressed with this one. This series plotline has the potential to continue for quite a while. While I rarely ever re-read a series, at some point in the future I will probably be tempted to do so with this one--because it's that intriguing.
The characters are well developed. The World is fantastic. The plot is interesting enough that it will support future installments. Each ending brings the reader to a good stopping point without cliffhangers. It is best to read these in order because of the continuing storyline.
This installment had plenty of action and a romance between a human and a hybrid Shifter. I look forward to reading the next book.
Lisa Blackwood is one of my absolutely favorite authors, and her In Deception's Shadow series is d perfect example of why. I adored the first book, Betrayal’s Price and became totally addicted after reading book 2, Herd Mistress. Now, thanks to Maiden's Wolf (Book 3), that addictions become all consuming. I simply could not put this book down and read it in one sitting through half the night (ending after 330am even though I knew I’d be woken around 6am). What can I say? This book is incredibly great. Beatrice, the young healer star of this book, and her ultra cool Larnkin (the magically powerful spirit creature that she’s host to), is just perfectly crafted. Same thing for Silverblade, the lupwyn scout who is the tale’s other star. Add in a great plot (which can totally stand-alone, by the way) and superb cast of supporting characters and you can see why this addiction is growing. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.
